I've been enjoying System Shock lately

Man, the game is WEIRD, its OLD, the assets are FUNNY looking and the UI makes you feel like a plane pilot, and yet, it all turns into irresistible and undeniable SOVL

The controls are very weird and janky, but I personally think that it adds a lot to the experience. It makes the game more fun and challenging to play

Then, theres the looks of it. It's genuinly gorgogoeus and fun to look at (Which seems to be a quality that games have lost)

I think that once I finish System Shock, I'll go right ahead and give Deus Ex a try (I'f I can make it run on Linux without it being extremely buggy, that is)

oh sick, tried it out and could immediatly tell how cyberpunk2077 took inspiration from it in some aspects (for example the crossair interaction with computers or elevator/door buttons) and as i was testing out system shock i also noticed how advanced it was for it's time, i mean imagine the game in VR
which version are you playing, because if it's the dos version i can highly recommend putting a good CRT shader over it, it will look so much better

Yea, its the DOS version; I might give a shader a go (If I end up actually learning how to use one that is xaxaa)

It seems like the game gets REALLY complex after the second level, so be mindful of that if youre planning to keep on playing arisu

I've only played the remake. I thought it was quite fun and it looked faithful to the original after manually disabling all the ugly postprocressing.

i dont know shit about souls games or system shock, i hardly play video games but if i had to recommend just some random games to people in this thread i gotta say Kingdom Hearts, Dark Cloud 2, and the Jak and Daxter series. that is my childhood in a nutshell.

Oh, SRB2Kart is an amazing game arisu

I still haven't been able to play it with other people, but some chatter on our IRC has been centered around the idea of creating a server for the game where we can all play from time to time

Do you play the game with mods by any chance? I've been trying to get them working on linux but I can't figure it out

I wonder if that will ever be done
